"A Tango Trilogy"
Program #1, “Tango Evolution” is nothing short of a blockbuster event. Considering that the principal performers in the program have both sold out San Francisco's Davies Hall in multiple performances with the San Francisco Symphony, it is nothing short of a tango coup d'état. Putting the Eroica Trio and Daniel Binelli on the same stage at the same time rivals the tango efforts of Yo Yo Ma’s Grammy winning “Soul of Tango” and Gidon Kremer’s Kremerata Baltica Hommage to Astor Piazzolla.
Program #2, "Tango x 3" is a most unusual three-piano trio featuring three world class pianist. Steinway Artists Polly Ferman and Erika Nickrenz (Eroica Trio) will combine the sensuous beauty of the tangos of Argentina and Uruguay with the pulsating jazz rhythms of Brazil and two-time Latin Grammy nominee, Jovino Santos Neto. This program will feature the debut of Daniel Binelli’s “Golden Gate Fantasy” for three-pianos. Jovino Santos Neto is working on a three-piano piece that will also debut. Pablo Ziegler is providing two three-piece suites for piano duets.
Program #3, The 20 women, all-female "Leading Ladies of Tango" is the most extraordinary program in the series. It features twelve (12) dancers from two dynamic all female dance troupes: the first all-female tango troupe, TangoMujer and San Francisco’s Tango Con*Fusión. There is a seven piece orchestra under the direction of Uruguay's premier pianist, Polly Ferman; two of the world's best female bandoneonists, one from Buenos Aires and the other from Berlin, Germany; an extraordinary Chilean flutist; and one of the tango's top vocalists, Argentinean singing sensation, Silvana Deluigi. Artistic direction comes from Allyson Manta of Las Vegas. Allyson has choreographed and taught dance for Montreal's "Cirque du Soleil" for 12 years. Allyson was also the Artistic Director for Cirque du Soleil's "Quidam" and "Mystere". The women of “Leading Ladies of Tango” represent nine different countries: United States, Germany, Switzerland, Argentina, Cuba, Uruguay, Chile, Taiwan, and Canada.
